Privacy and your material

Four permissions, set by you

Every photograph, video or recording you add carries one of these:

• May appear in the book. It can be drawn from and referred to in the finished book.
• Reference only. Amy may look at it to get something right — a face, a room, a dog’s markings — but it will not appear.
• Private information for Amy. Context she needs in order to handle your story well. It never appears in the book and is never included in production material.
• Do not process. Keep it, but do nothing with it.

You can change any of these at any time before the book is locked for printing. Lowering a permission takes effect immediately.

How it is stored

• Files are held in private storage. There are no public links, and nothing is guessable from a filename.
• Access is granted only to you and to Amy, through short-lived authorised links that expire.
• Every new upload is held in quarantine until it has been checked. Until then it is not converted, not shown as a preview and not included in any export.
• Private material is excluded from anything that leaves the studio for production.

Other people in your story

When you upload material that shows someone else, we ask you to confirm you have the right to share it. If someone in your story is a child, is unwell, or has died, we ask you gently rather than assuming, and we never publish details you have marked private.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw an item at any time. Withdrawal removes it from all future use immediately. If a book version has already been produced using it, Amy is told, that version is flagged, and a corrected version is produced before printing.
